Hello and welcome to my homepage!

I am an Assistant Professor in the area of Computer Graphics and Computational Vision at the Department of Informatics and Telematics of the Harokopio University of Athens in Greece. I received the Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Thessaloniki, Greece. I have worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the Foundation For Research And Technology Hellas / Institute of Computer Science (FORTH/ICS) and the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas / Information Technologies Institute (CERTH/ITI).

My research focuses on the areas of computer vision, artificial intelligence and machine/deep learning. In particular, my current research interests include, among others, self-supervised learning techniques for visual information processing, visual captioning, multimodal eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) and X-ray image analysis.

I have over 20 years of experience in participating to EU funded research projects in the areas of ICT, security and robotics. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator (PI) of the EU-funded projects Ceasefire (Technical Manager), Anti-FinTer (Technical Manager), TENSOR, ONELAB and KLEPTOTRACE.
